1. Obituary. Mrs. William Lyle, 94, of Portland Mills, died Thursday morning October 8, 1879 in Elk County General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
The former Esther Ann McManigle, she was born April 28, 18? in Brookville, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Steele) McManigle. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Portland Mills.
Surviving are three daughters and three sons: Hazel, wife of Ray Disque and Maxine, wife of Richard Haighty, of Johnsonburg; Bessie, wife of Bert Armstrong, Schnectady, N.Y.; Elmer (Moses) and Marlin (Nick), both of Portland Mills; and Bruce of Ridgway. Twenty grandchildren ? great grandchildren and fo? great-great grandchildren survive. Her husband, William Lyle preceded her in death January 6, ?. A son Martin died in June 193?, a daughter, Ethel Pence, died September 1943.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lehman-Hammond Funeral Home with Rev. Richard M Crenshaw officiating. Interment was in Zion Cemetery in Brookville.
