1. Obituary. A Very sudden Death James McManigle, aged about 75 years, died very suddenly at his home in Pinecreek township, on the turnpike, about three miles east of Brookville, on Monday morning, the 13th instant. He got up in the morning as usual and made a fire in the cooking stove. After putting some water in a vessel on the stove, he called his wife, and then started to the barn to do the feeding. When breakfast was ready a child was sent to call him, but failed to find him. As he did not return to the house a search was made for him and he was found lying in the stable behind a horse, dead. At first it was supposed he had been kicked by the animal, but careful examination failed to show the marks of any injury on his person. It is supposed he died from heart trouble, or from a result of a wound received in the late war. His wound was on the left side, near the heart, and he had complained of it paining him very much for a couple of weeks prior to his death. He was a good citizen and enjoyed the respect of all who knew him. He was buried by his Grand Army comrades on Wednesday.
2. Obituary. Obituary; 16 Oct 1890. James McManigle, an aged citizen of Pinecreek township, was found dead in his barn Monday forenoon last. He had gone to the barn to do some work and several hours later he was found dead in the horse stable. It was at first thought that he had been kicked by one of the horses, but as no marks were found upon his body it is supposed his sudden death was caused by apoplexy. He was about 70 years of age, and a man highly respected by his neighbors. His remains will be given burial today. E. R. Brady post, G. A. R., will officiate at the funeral.
James married Mary Elizabeth Diebler. (Mary Elizabeth Diebler was born in 1829 in Pennsylvania and died on 20 Aug 1878 in Rose Township, Jefferson County, PA.)
