   General Notes:

Jeremiah newberry b. 1743 (S#43,022-Conn., and N.Y., Agcy. Cert. # 2958, Vital Records); issued $8.00 per mo. from April 1818. This soldier applied for pension from Greenwich, Wash. Co., N.Y., age 75 entered vate under Capt. John Harmon and John Buell; Col. Durkee and Grosvenor's Conn., Regt. He was in battles of Germantown, Mud Fort, and Manmouth; marched to Yorktown, Va., in a detachment under Capt. Betts, Lt. Col Huntington and Col Scannel; was in storming of Redout at Yorktown; discharged 1783. His case for a pension was returned "not entitled to pension" (he had deserted 10-Oct-1778). Later General Washington proclaimed and offered a free pardon to all who would return to duty. jeremiah Newberry returned and reported to Col. Grosvenor; accepted and Col. Grosvenor's rolls show his continuous service in the army from 1779-1783. After his return he went to Yorktown, Va. under Colonel Scannel in Capt. Bates Co., and Lt. Col. Ebenezer Huntington's Co.

Jeremiah married Prudence Satterlee, daughter of John Satterlee and Experience Lanphere, on 4 Jan 1764 in Westerly, Washington County, Rhode Island (North America).
